Monday is a day for many of us that we get to sleep in and take a break from the hustle and bustle of our professional life to celebrate the holiday of Martin Luther King Jr Day. While it is refreshing to get a day off work, I believe that the day calls for us all to reflect on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King and how we can further personify the values and characteristics that have become synonymous with his name.
Catalyst is asking you to take the MLK Challenge and let us know about it. The MLK Challenge is to do one of the following activities on Monday with the intent to pursue further engagement in this city we call home after Monday:
1. Research an organization that works to improve our community and see how you might be able to get involved.
2. Attend a cultural event in the city with your family. Here is a great link to some of the free and low-cost activities going on Monday: http://beta.indystar.com/article/20110113/ENTERTAINMENT/101130449/Weekend-s-Best-Martin-Luther-King-Jr.-Day
3. Do something for a friend, family member, or complete stranger to show them you care about them, such as make them meal, pay for a random persons meal/coffee, etc.
4. Research an issue that is important to you at: http://catalystxchange.org/action/passions.aspx
So, this Monday while you are taking a break, take the MLK Challenge and see how you can join in the effort to make this a better community.
