Looking forward…

Welcome 2011!!

As we embark on this brand new year, I wanted to take the opportunity to let you know some of the things you can expect to see from Catalyst.

First: more bloggin’.  Kristin and I collaborate on most everything, but we do  have very different duties in two respects.  I’m in charge of all things web-related (which includes our website, social media, and blog).  Kristin heads up our trainings and is the go-to person for anything training-related.  To that end, we’ll both be doing more blogging this year.  My Monday blogs will be centered around all things web/social media-related; her Thursday blogs will focus on our trainings and technical assistance as well as broader areas like recruiting and retaining young professionals in the nonprofit sector.

Second: awesome website!  Within the next month, our site should be fully functional.  Some things to do while you’re there: sign up as a registered user, check out the “What’s your passion?” section for info on important social issues, and visit “Action Headquarters” to link up with volunteer databases to get involved.   Stop by the “Generational Info” page to find out about all the different generations.  You can also browse info about us and what we do and send us an email with questions and comments.  Our website is always a work in progress, so feel free to hit me up with suggestions or comments (melissa@catalystxchange.org).

Third: Trainings and Technical Assistance.  Okay, okay, I know this is Kristin’s area, but I have to include it here because it’s super important (and awesome!).  You’ll be seeing a lot more of us in the community.  We’ll be providing more training series that are open to the public, we’ll be at local nonprofits doing training/consulting,  and we’ll be at conferences (we’re headlining at the DCS Director’s Conference at the end of this month!)  Our trainings are all about helping nonprofits to connect with and engage young people and young professionals as donors, volunteers, and board members and helping them to  recruit and retain quality young professionals as employees.   Interested?  Email Kristin at kristin@catalystxchange.org for more info.

2011 brings with it a lot of optimism and excitement here at Catalyst.  Thanks to all who made 2010 a great year for us, and we’re excited about meeting even more amazing world changers this year.

I wish you all a fantastic year filled with lots of world changin’.
